अगर रोगी को shooting pain महसूस होता है  यानी तीव्र दर्द जो तीर जैसे एक जगह से निकलकर दूसरे जगह तक चलता है  जो कि कमर से निकलकर जांघो से गुजरता हुआ calf muscles तक या पैरों के तलवे तक भी पहुंच सकता है  इस दर्द को सैयाटिका scatica  का दर्द कहते हैं  सैयाटीका नर्व  हमारे शरीर का सबसे लंबा नर्व है  जो ब्रेन से निकलकर पैरों की उंगलियों तक जाती है  उस नर्व के किसी भी भाग में दबाव के कारण जो दर्द आता है उसे सैयाटिका कहते हैं  Sciatic दर्द के निम्न कारण है कमर  या पीठ पर कोई मार लगने से  कोई भारी वस्तु झट से उठाने से  अचानक पैर फिसल कर गिर जाने से  डिस्क प्रोलेप्स जिसका पूरा नाम है prolapse of intervertebral disc या PID इसमें lambar vertabra  L 5 और S1 के बीच में जो डिस्क होता है वह अपनी जगह से हट जाता है ऐसे किसी भी कारण से sciatic nerve दब जाता है ,और उस पर प्रेशर आ जाता है जिसके कारण यह दर्द आता है इसे ठीक करने के लिए हमें दो प्रकार से उपचार करने हैं पहले दर्द को खत्म करने के लिए Anti-histamine का केमिकल बनाने का ट्रीटमेंट देना  दूसरा हमें फिजिकल ट्रीटमेंट MRTदेना है जिससे कि वहां की नसें
